The Weirdest Places People Have Played Bingo

Weirdest Bingo LocationsI don’t know about you, but I would play bingo just about anywhere. The location doesn’t really matter so much as the opportunity for a game.

Well, aside from the odd community event, I’ve only ever really played in a bingo hall, but there are people out there who have played bingo in some wonderfully weird places indeed.

Now I’m not talking about whipping out your mobile for a few games on your favourite online bingo site. Oh no. I’m talking about a full blown physical game of bingo, with paper tickets, bingo balls, and a bingo caller.

I’m talking about under water bingo, a bingo game at 30,000 feet, down a sewer – bonkers stuff! Honestly, some of these make you wonder how it was even possible, but if we know anything about this game of ours its that bingo is adaptable and can survive pretty much anything the world throws at it.

So without further ado, here are the weirdest places people have ever played a game of bingo.

On a Plane

This only happened in 2025, on a and it wasn’t planned.

A Spanish stag do on a Ryanair flight hijacked the plane and forced everyone on board to… play bingo! That’s right, they planned the whole thing and had brought bingo tickets for every passenger as well as a random number selector.

They said they were doing it to raise the profile of the game which was losing popularity in Spain, where it has been played for hundreds of years.

The 1 line winner received a home made pie baked by the mother of one of the party, while the full house winner was encouraged to say a few words, although he could barely speak for laughing.

This beautiful moment was caught on camera too:

You can’t watch that and not smile. Bingo is amazing.

At a Nude Resort

This one is a regular event if you want to get yourself down there and try something new.

Lol. No me neither, but what a sight that would be!

Of course you would have to get to Florida to do so, because that’s where the game in question takes place. It’s a venue called Cyprus Cove Nudist Resort, and they host a game of bingo every Tuesday evening at 6:30pm.

Prizes include free drinks or gift cards for the resort. Apparently it’s a very good night, although you do need to make sure you concentrate on the correct set of balls.

They recommend getting there early, because seats fill up fast.

I bet they do…

In Prison

Even if you wanted to attend this game, you would need to go to extreme lengths to do so.

Bingo has been played in prisons on numerous occasions, but one weekly game in particular caught my eye.

In a Pennsylvanian prison, a special game for people with severe behavioural and mental challenges takes place each Sunday afternoon. There are only 4 players per game, and each one sits in an individual cage in the room.

Some aren’t even allowed a pen or pencil to mark their cards! The prizes are snacks, and the ‘bingo caller’ sits under the protection of armed prison guards.

The game is supposed to help with the prisoner’s mental wellbeing, and as we know, bingo is good the brain.

In a Theme Park

When you think about it, a theme park isn’t the most insane place to host a bingo night. That said, running the game outdoors among the rides puts a slightly crazy spin on it.

That’s exactly what Bongo’s Bingo did at Blackpool pleasure beach back in 2021.

The rides weren’t on – people weren’t screaming bingo from the top of a rollercoaster, but nevertheless, it must have been quite a sight watching the chaos that is Bongo’s Bingo in the middle of Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

The night was moved to the Blackpool Tower in the end, but for a while it was a regular event. Bingo in a theme park – sign me up!

At a Funeral

FuneralFull disclosure, this one is only anecdotal.

Nevertheless, there is a story out there about a pensioner who loved bingo so much, that when she passed, her family decided to honour her memory with a game of funeral at the wake.

They even marked a card for her so she could play from the other side.

I imagine the lady in question would have been thrilled with this send off, but wouldn’t it have been lovely for her whole family to join her for a game while she was still alive, too?

Lets not end on a downer though. This chick went through the pearly gates with a dabber in her hand and bingo calls ringing in her ears. That’s how I want to go too when my time comes.

Gateway to heaven, twenty seven!
